Finance Director

Position Summary

The Hamilton Area YMCA is looking for a friendly, well organized and detail oriented individual with good communication and analytical skills to join their team. 

 

The Finance Director is responsible for assisting the Controller with general ledger, financial reporting, budgeting, grant tracking, monthly close, accounts payable, cash receipts and deposits. Additional responsibilities include accurate and timely maintenance of the general ledger environment in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  This position will assist in end of month close and work closely with the outside auditors for the annual year end audit.  They will also serve as a resource to Directors regarding departmental financial performance. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Finance and Accounting

1.    Record monthly journal entries. 

2.    Responsible for Accounts Payable.

3.    Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly cash reports ensuring deadlines are met in a timely manner.

4.    Responsible for all monthly bank reconciliations and review of balance sheet.

5.    Responsible for reconciling and posting Cash Receipts.

6.    Assists in month end close and analysis of balance sheet and income statement.

7.     Assists in the preparation of annual audit and grant audits as required.

8.     Maintain internal financial controls and procedures.

9.    Performs account analysis.

10.   Ensures appropriate documentation for all areas of responsibility. This includes standardized processes along with necessary paper and back-ups.

11.   Perform special projects (e.g., analysis, reporting and process development) and other duties assigned by the Controller.

 

General Responsibilities

1.     Performs all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner.

 

2.     Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work   schedules and work assignments as defined by organizational needs.

 

3.     Represents Hamilton Area YMCA in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for others.

 

Qualifications 

A.  Education & Experience

·    Bachelor’s degree in accounting and five years of accounting experience in the areas of financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, month-end close, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash receipts.

·    Non-profit accounting expertise preferred.

 

B.             Skills

·    Demonstrated analytical and reporting skills.

·    Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills required to develop and implement the most effective solutions to meet a wide variety of challenges.

·    Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment.

·    Proven multiple project management skills and experience.

·    Proficiency in Excel.

·    Knowledge of Christensen Software preferred.

Preschool and Youth Gymnastics Instructor

Responsible for leadership and instruction of our preschool and youth gymnastic classes.  Positive interaction with participants is a key factor as the instructor of the classes. Enthusiasm and a positive attitude are a must!  Must be at least 16 years of age, enjoy working with children and have prior experience working with children.  Classes are offered weekday morning and evenings.  A background in basic gymnastics is preferred.  Please contact Rebecca Harcar at rharcar@hamiltonymca.org or 609-581-9622 x121. 

 

          Sports Instructors

Responsible for leadership and instruction of our preschool and youth sports classes.  Positive interaction with participants is a key factor as the instructor of the classes. Creative Arts Instructors

Responsible for leadership and instruction of our preschool and youth arts, music, theater and basic cooking classes.  Positive interaction with participants and their families is a key factor as the instructor of the class.  Enthusiasm and a positive attitude are a must!  A background and/or prior experience with the arts is a plus.  Must be at least 16 years of age, enjoy working with children and have prior experience working with children.  Please contact Rebecca Harcar at rharcar@hamiltonymca.org or 609-581-9622 x121.         

           Before and/or After School Site Assistants

Hours: 7:15-9:00am and/or 3:15-5:30/6:00pm
Site Assistants are responsible for assisting the Site Supervisors in the management, supervision and program planning for a group of children ages 5 to 12 in accordance with YMCA guidelines and state licensing requirements. Positive interaction with the children is the primary function of this position. Must be at least 16 years of age, undergoing professional preparation to be a leader of young children, or have experience working with children. Should have a warm, friendly, assertive personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with program goals. Certification in CPR and First Aid is strongly recommended.

 
Before and/or After School Site Supervisors
Hours: 7:15-9:00am and/or 3:15-5:30/6:00pm
Responsible for the overall management, supervision and program planning of a before and/or after school program for children ages 5 to 12 in accordance with YMCA guidelines and state licensing requirements. Employee must meet requirement for Program Supervisor Qualifications as stated by the Department of Human Services, Office of Licensing. Minimal requirement is a High School Diploma with 6 hours of training in Child Care and 3 hours in Child Program Management and 4 years experience. Experience in working with groups of children, current certification in CPR and First Aid is required.

           Water Exercise Instructors

 S.K.O.R. Buddy/Volunteer Program
Volunteers, Buddies, serve as one of the most valuable resources in the S.K.O.R. program.  These exceptional individuals (ages 12 and up) volunteer their time to assist S.K.O.R. participants in all of their activities. Because our program is expanding, we need volunteers more than ever! If you’re interested in participating please e-mail krhead@hamiltonymca.org   . Training will be provided for all volunteers.
