Y's Owls Preschool Afternoon Group Teacher

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the daily planning and execution of assigned classroom and outdoor activities.
  2. Responsible for the welfare, health and safety of the children at our Preschool.  Responsible for accommodating the needs of the individual child with concern for interests, special needs, talents, individual style, and pace for learning.
  3. Assists in maintaining an attractive, organized, clean and stimulating preschool space including bulletin boards, displays, etc.
  4. Assists in and attends Special Events, such as Family Events, Open Houses, etc.
  5. Communicates with Director and morning Group Teachers in disseminating information to parents.
  6. Assists in the overall planning and execution of special events for the program.
  7. Works with Director to ensure proper staff coverage is maintained at all times.
  8. Works with and communicates respectfully with all co-workers and members of the Hamilton Area YMCA.
  9. Submits monthly class plans to the Director in a timely manner and in accordance with the Creative Curriculum.
  10. Responsible for attending workshops, conferences and in-service training to complete 20 hours of required training in addition to scheduled staff meetings.
  11. Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs.
  13. Represents the Hamilton Area YMCA in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for others.


  1. Education and/or Experience
    • Working towards successful completion of CDA


    • successful completion of an associate degree in a related field plus six college credits in child development or early childhood education, including 300 hours of supervised teaching experience in an early childhood program
  2. Certifications
  • Membership to the National Association for the Education of Young Children is recommended
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification required
