S.K.O.R. - SPECIAL KIDS ORGANIZED RECREATION
(AGES 5 –22)
S.K.O.R. provides services for developmentally, physically and/or emotionally challenged youths and teens. Active involvement and support provides opportunities to increase appropriate social peer interaction, builds self-esteem, promotes physical fitness, teamwork, respect, and most of all…is just plain fun!
S.K.O.R. offers a variety of sport and instructional programs for ages 5 - 22 that are designed to meet the individual needs of each participant.
S.K.O.R. Sport Programs
S.K.O.R. “Sport” programs are leagues based on a three-tier theory that provides instruction and actual game time.
• The first tier focuses on the instruction of the basic skills needed for that particular sport.
• The second tier is designed to enhance the basic skills while introducing the rules and regulations of the sport.
• The third tier provides the opportunity to take the skills learned and put them to use through our non-competitive “In-House League” where they will enjoy playing the game with each other.
• The participants will also have the option to compete in a more competitive league by signing up for one of our “Travel Teams” that participate in Special Olympics New Jersey sport competitions.
The Hamilton Area YMCA S.K.O.R. program offers the following sport programs for ages 5 - 22:
• Basketball (January - March)
