Hamilton Area YMCA

Leagues

The Y is the jumping off point for many kids to learn about the importance of physical activity — and for developing the healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout their lives.

The benefits of joining a Youth Sports League at the Hamilton Area YMCA are far greater than just physical health. Whether it’s gaining the confidence that comes from learning a new skill or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in sports at the YMCA is about building a healthy, active and contributing member of the community from the inside out.

Youth sports at the YMCA teach kids more than how to score goals, make baskets or hit doubles into the gap; they teach character and social skills for future leaders. Y leagues aren’t just for kids, either — we also offer pick-up and competitive leagues for adults.

The YMCA philosophy of youth sports:

  • Everyone plays — We do not use tryouts to select the best players. No one is cut from a team.
  • Safety first — Coaches and officials make sure all equipment and facilities are safe.
  • Fair play — The Y is about playing by the rules and showing respect for all involved.

Youth Soccer

Hamilton Area YMCA soccer leagues offer a safe and productive environment for your child to learn the fundamentals or soccer, as well as the importance of teamwork. Your child will be part of the player development initiative that is recommended by the U.S. Soccer Association for youth soccer. All ages will participate in small-sided games, teaching them more skills, comprehension of offense and defense and giving them more touches on the ball while maintaining a fun atmosphere.

Games and practices will be held at the Sawmill Branch. Three lighted and sodded soccer fields will provide the perfect environment to learn and develop your child's soccer skills. Most of the games will be played on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Practices will be scheduled based on the coaches’ availability on weekday evenings.

Winter Basketball

Sign up for the 2018 - 2019 season!

Our youth basketball league focuses on good sportsmanship and instruction. The season runs 8 - 10 weeks with all games scheduled in one of our climate-controlled gymnasiums.

Practices begin in mid-November. Each team is assigned a week night, time and local practice location. Games begin the weekend of November 29, 2019 and continue through mid-February.

To ensure balance among teams, teams will be set based off evaluations, not requests. All participants must attend one of the evaluations to be placed on a team. Evaluations dates will be posted in February.

Youth Sports Team Sponsorship

The Hamilton Area YMCA makes every effort to give every child an opportunity to participate in sports. In a typical year, we offer leagues with a combined participation of more than 1,600 young athletes.

Sponsorships help to provide these participants with a uniform shirt and a trophy, which ultimately helps to keep the costs of the league down for participants. Sponsorships are always greatly valued by everyone involved in the league. In return for your generosity, your business’s name will be printed on the back of a team’s jersey and you will receive a plaque featuring your team’s photo.

Fee:
Youth Soccer and Basketball sponsorships are $125 per team
Youth Baseball sponsorships are $150 per team

Additional teams in the same league and season can be sponsored for a reduced rate of $75 per team.

Please click here for more information on being a Youth Team sponsor.

Youth Sports Team Coach

When you share your time and talent as a volunteer coach, you can change a life or two...including your own. Parent/volunteer coaches are key to a successful program. Click here for our volunteer application.

Please contact Logan Perez at 609.581.9622 ext. 21105 or lperez@hamiltonymca.org for more information.

  • Advanced Play: Competitive style of play, usually by strong players who slam the ball to the opponent's court or smash the ball with a lot of force. Players need quick reaction time and solid movement/footing so as not to get hit by balls or to be more liable to trip and fall. People who play on Thursdays will expect all players to play aggressively. This includes being able to initiate and react to the strategic dink game.
