What is the annual campaign?

Food for neighbors in need. Safe spaces for kids to learn and grow. Outreach to seniors who are feeling isolated. These are just a few of the many reasons to give to the Y. Find your reason to give and support your community.

Making a difference for generations to come, an endowment provides for the future financial stability of the Y. The objective is to draw only on the earnings of the endowment fund and leave the principal intact as it grows, generating an ever-increasing level of income to ensure Y Financial Assistance for individuals, children, and families in need. Money from the endowment is also used to strengthen and develop programs and services and improve facilities.

Contributions can be made in the following ways:

• Outright gift of cash, securities, stock, real estate and tangible personal property. In most cases, you may take a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the asset.
• Bequest in a Will
• Life Income Gifts such as a Charitable Remainder Trust or Charitable Lead Trust
• Gift of Real Estate with Retained Life Interest
• Gift of Life Insurance

As with all financial considerations, we encourage you to discuss potential tax advantages and other aspects of charitable giving with your attorney, tax advisor or financial consultant.

Make a gift in honor or in memory of a friend or loved one. Just let us know on whose behalf the donation is made and to whom the acknowledgment should be sent.

Many employers offer a matching gift program, which can double or even triple your gift! To participate in your company’s matching gift program, visit your human resources office to obtain a matching gift form. Complete the form and send it along with your gift to the Hamilton Area YMCA. We will notify your company of your contribution. Some matching gift companies include Bank of America, The Prudential Foundation, Chubb, and Robert Wood Johnson.

You can also designate the Hamilton Area YMCA through your United Way or other employee giving campaign. In addition to the New Jersey State Employees Charitable Campaign (where we are listed as the “Hamilton Area Young Men’s Christian Association”), some other companies with employee giving programs include Bristol-Myers Squibb and PSE&G.

A gift of stock owned for more than one year may entitle you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made. You may benefit by avoiding capital gains taxes and reducing income taxes. The YMCA benefits by receiving property that is easy to sell and will generate funds to support YMCA programs. Consult your financial advisor to find out if a gift of stock is the right choice for you.
