Annette Dillon
RN-BSN - College of New Jersey
AFPA Certified Personal Trainer
AFPA Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant

For Annette, health and wellness has always been a personal passion. As a nurse, she found her interest piqued by topics related to nutrition and exercise.  She decided to take her nursing career in that direction.  She joined the YMCA with the goal of maintaining her healthy lifestyle and found that she enjoyed helping others learn how to use the equipment and exercise more efficiently. Annette eventually got certified through AFPA and gradually began working more hours at the Y, teaching cycle, Pilates and consulting with members about nutrition and fitness. Annette brings her passion for healthy lifestyle along with a thorough scientific understanding of the importance of diet and exercise on the body to each training session. In her free time, Annette enjoys exercise, healthy cooking, spending time with her husband and two cats and travel - especially to warm beaches. Annette specializes in Pilates training, cardiovascular fitness, training for health and wellness, weight management, and nutrition.

Arlene Olla
NASM Certified Personal Trainer
BS University of Colorado, Boulder
Healthy Living Program Participants
Adaptive Populations

Arlene has spent many years as a writer in the health care field focusing on the pharmaceutical industry and has also worked as an editor on a number of projects, including a book devoted to a martial arts training. That's something she is very familiar with, having earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a second one through the Superfoot (Bill Wallace) system. Physical fitness has been part her life and even though cancer put some of her activities on hold temporarily, she attributes regular exercise with helping her get back to what she loves. “The days, weeks and months following cancer treatment can be difficult,” she says. “Chemotherapy, radiation, surgery or any combination, takes its toll. All of us who have gone through cancer want to get back to our 'normal', pre-treatment condition as quickly as possible, but bouncing back takes time. “As a founding participant in the THRIVE program, I have first-hand experience of the benefits that can result from a focused strength, endurance and conditioning program. I've always been active and tried to stay active through my surgeries and treatments for cancer, but this focused approach made all the difference and made it possible for me to move to the next level in my fitness training. In fact, it made such an impression on me that I was motivated to obtain my personal training cert so that I can share with others -- not just cancer patients -- the exceptional and life-changing benefits of fitness.”

Jim Persicketti

AFPA Nutrition Counselor

Not only was he successful in achieving this goal, but he found that he enjoyed strength training in its own right. He became a certified personal trainer and started training others after his retirement. At the outset, he wanted to become a nutritionist and even looked into a second career as a physical therapist but eventually decided to stick with personal training as it afforded him the flexibility to travel and to run. Jim delivers a high level of knowledge and professionalism to his clients with a friendly demeanor and encouraging smile. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis, running and travel with favorite destinations including Hilton Head and Key West. Jim thoroughly enjoys training runners, athletes or anyone training for a specific fitness goal.  Other specialties include work with older adults and special populations.

Suzanne Collins
BA Elementary Education
MA Student Personnel Guidance and Counseling
MA Educational Leadership
NAFC Certified Personal Trainer
ACE Certified Group Exercise Instructor

Her interest in exercise started at an early age through her involvement in township recreational softball and high school sports. In college, her love for tennis propelled her to continue working out daily and upon graduation she began to love running to stay in shape. Her commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle inspired her to join the YMCA and take exercise classes and use the equipment. She says it like this “it was the beginning of a fulfilling career where I fell in love with group exercise and became a certified group instructor then eventually a certified personal trainer”. Her classes are fun and challenging as she goes about teaching almost 30 years a variety of classes at the YMCA such as Pilates, Kickboxing, Cycling, Muscle Works, Step Aerobics. Glutes and Abs, etc. Her passion for fitness comes from seeing clients and students advance to a higher level of fitness and feel GOOD about their achievements. She includes four essential components in all her fitness programs – cardio, strength training, flexibility and balance. She gains satisfaction from training the young to the active older adults. She says, “the satisfaction of watching active older adults conquer activities and become committed to a healthy lifestyle is awesome”. Her next goal is to work with clients with chronic illness to achieve the slowing down process that can sometimes occur from any injury or diagnosed disease.
